HP laptops are among the most widely used machines across the UAE — from students on HP Stream notebooks in Sharjah universities, to finance professionals running HP EliteBooks in DIFC, to engineers pushing HP ZBook mobile workstations in Abu Dhabi. With that many HP devices in circulation, it is no surprise that HP laptop chargers are one of the most searched laptop accessories in Dubai and across the Emirates.
The challenge: HP has shipped dozens of charger variants over the past decade — 45W, 65W, 90W, 120W, 135W, 150W, 200W, 230W and 330W — across three different connector families (blue-tip 4.5mm, 7.4mm barrel, and USB-C Power Delivery). Pick the wrong one and you risk slow charging, a "plugged in, not charging" error, or worse — damage to your battery and motherboard from a counterfeit unit running on UAE's 220V–240V mains.
That is where Charger House comes in. We are the UAE's dedicated laptop charger specialist, stocking original HP chargers and premium-grade HP-compatible adapters at our Dubai Computer Plaza and Sharjah Sahara Centre branches. Every charger is pre-tested on 220V UAE voltage, carries a minimum 6-month warranty, and can be dispatched for same-day delivery across Dubai and Sharjah. This guide walks you through every HP wattage, every connector, and every laptop series so you can buy with confidence — the first time.

One of the biggest causes of wrong-charger purchases in the UAE is connector confusion. HP uses three primary connector types — and they are not interchangeable.
Introduced around 2012 and still the most common HP connector today. A slim 4.5mm outer diameter plug with a tiny blue centre pin. Used on almost every modern HP Pavilion, Envy, EliteBook, ProBook, Stream and ZBook Ultrabook from 2013 onward. Wattages range from 45W up to 200W within this connector family — the plug is identical, only the amperage changes.
The older "big pin" HP connector with a 7.4mm outer diameter and a centre pin. Still widely used on HP Omen gaming laptops, ZBook Fury, and older EliteBook 8000-series machines. Typically carries higher wattages — 120W, 150W, 200W, 230W and 330W.
The modern universal standard. Used on HP Spectre x360, EliteBook Dragonfly, EliteBook x360, and newer EliteBook 800 G8/G9 series. Delivers 45W, 65W, 90W or 100W via USB-C PD protocol. Crucially, a USB-C phone charger will NOT fast-charge your HP laptop — you need a genuine PD adapter rated for the correct wattage.

Follow this five-step process and you will get it right every time:
Step 1 — Find your HP product number. Flip your laptop over. Look for a small sticker labelled "Product" or "P/N" — it will read something like 8MH40EA#ABV or 2D237EA. This is more precise than the marketing name.
Step 2 — Check your original charger's label. If your old adapter still works, read the label on the power brick. You will see "Output: 19.5V 3.33A 65W" or similar. Match the wattage and voltage exactly — or go higher in wattage (never lower).
Step 3 — Identify your connector. Look at the tip that plugs into the laptop:
Step 4 — Confirm the wattage. Use our HP Wattage Reference Table above, or read our full Laptop Charger Wattage Guide to understand why wattage matters.
Step 5 — Verify UAE voltage compatibility. Every charger sold by Charger House is rated 100V–240V 50/60Hz, which means it runs safely on UAE 220V mains. Beware of grey-market units from other regions that may only support 110V.
Still unsure? WhatsApp our team a photo of your old charger's label and we will confirm the exact replacement in minutes.
In the Dubai market you will see three tiers of HP chargers advertised online and in shops:
Manufactured by HP themselves, shipped in HP-branded boxes, carrying HP part numbers like L40094-001 or 710412-001. These are the safest choice, include full electrical protection, and ship with HP's global warranty. Charger House stocks genuine HP originals for all major wattages.
High-grade third-party chargers built to HP's exact electrical spec, with proper overvoltage, short-circuit, and overheat protection. Every compatible unit we sell is individually tested on 220V UAE mains before it leaves our warehouse, and carries a Charger House 6-month warranty. Ideal if you need a reliable spare at a lower price.
Unfortunately widespread across unregulated marketplaces and some Dragon Mart vendors. These use undersized transformers, missing safety circuitry, and fake HP branding. On UAE 220V mains they can overheat, trip your RCD, damage your battery, or cause fires. Never buy an HP charger without a printed UAE-compatible voltage label and a traceable warranty.

At Charger House we refuse to stock counterfeits. Every HP adapter on our shelves is either a verified OEM unit or a certified premium-compatible adapter with full UAE safety compliance.
1. Can I use a higher-wattage HP charger on a lower-wattage laptop?
Yes. A 90W HP charger will safely power a laptop that originally shipped with a 65W adapter, provided the connector and voltage match. The laptop only draws what it needs. You cannot go the other way — a 45W charger on a 90W laptop will either refuse to charge or charge very slowly while the laptop is off.
2. My HP laptop says "The AC adapter type cannot be determined" — what does that mean?
This message appears when your HP detects a charger without a working "smart pin" signal. It usually means either the charger is counterfeit, the centre blue pin is damaged, or the wattage is too low. Replace with a genuine HP adapter matching your laptop's required wattage.
3. Do HP USB-C chargers work on all HP laptops?
No. Only HP laptops that have a USB-C port labelled with a battery or lightning icon support charging via USB-C PD. EliteBook 800 G6+, Spectre x360 and Dragonfly models all support it. Older Pavilions and EliteBooks with only a barrel port do not.
4. What warranty comes with HP chargers from Charger House?
Genuine HP OEM chargers carry a 12-month warranty. Our premium HP-compatible chargers carry a 6-month Charger House warranty covering electrical defects.
5. Will my HP charger work on UAE 220V power?
Every charger Charger House sells is rated 100V–240V, which is fully compatible with UAE's 220V–240V 50Hz mains. We reject any stock that is not dual-voltage safe.
6. Do you deliver HP chargers the same day in Dubai?
Yes — orders confirmed before 4pm are dispatched the same day across Dubai and Sharjah. Abu Dhabi, Ajman, RAK, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Al Ain typically arrive the next business day.
7. Can I bring my old HP charger to check compatibility in-store?
Absolutely. Walk into our Computer Plaza Bur Dubai or Sahara Centre Sharjah branches with your old charger (or just your laptop) and our technicians will match the exact replacement on the spot.
Whether you are replacing a failed HP EliteBook adapter in Business Bay, grabbing a spare 65W for a Pavilion in your Sharjah home office, or kitting out a corporate fleet of ProBooks — Charger House is your trusted HP charger destination in the UAE.
